Marketers spend their careers crafting brand stories, optimizing campaigns, and making products irresistible. But what about how you market yourself?
Here’s the hard truth: If you’re in marketing and no one knows what you stand for, you’re missing out on opportunities.
Think of yourself like a product:
1. Positioning: What makes you different from every other marketer? “I do digital marketing” isn’t a brand, it’s a job title.
2. Target Audience: Who needs to know about you? Hiring managers? Industry peers? Clients? Speak to them, not everyone.
3. Messaging: If you can sell a brand, you should be able to articulate your own expertise. What’s your niche? Your perspective? Your value?
4. Visibility: If you’re not sharing insights, engaging in discussions, or showing up where your industry is, how will people find you?
A strong personal brand isn’t about self-promotion—it’s about credibility. It makes you top of mind for new roles, collaborations, and opportunities.
So, why do so many marketers avoid it? Maybe because marketing yourself is harder than marketing a product. 🤷♀️
